Be enchanted by the “Mountain of the Moon,” as Sintra was called in ancient times. Breathe the fresh sea air at Cabo Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.
Stroll on the beaches of Guincho, and marvel at the Boca do Inferno (Hell’s Mouth) cove. En route back to the city, drive along the Estoril coast road, linking the traditional fishing village of Cascais with the glamorous resort of Estoril, and on to Lisbon.
Before your tour is over, go to Lisbon’s Belém Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, and vast span of the historic 25 de Abril Bridge. Look up at the statue of Christ the King (Cristo Rei) embracing the city from its hillside location. Enjoy expansive views of Lisbon’s Pombaline Downtown at the Terreiro do Paço, completely rebuilt in the 18th century after the 1755 earthquake.
